British College of Canine Studies

The British College of Canine Studies (BCCS) offers a Dog Walkers & Sitters Association certificate. The 6 unit certificate course takes content from the BCCS Behavior, Dog Law, and AMTRA and CPD accredited canine first aid courses and puts it all together to make a great course for any walker or sitter. This certificate course gives you full membership and a directory listing with the Dog Walkers & Sitters Association, providing that you also have a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check and insurance in place, as well as three references.

Dog Business School

The Dog Business School offers a wide variety of Ofqual registered dog service courses. Their courses include Level 2 and 3 qualifications, which are great for sitters at the beginning or in the early years of their career.

NarpsUK

NarpsUK (National Association of Pet Sitting and Dog Walkers) hosts a series of unique and comprehensive online courses produced by experts and specifically for those wishing to start, or who already run, their own pet sitting or dog walking business. These online courses can fit around your life and busy schedule. You have 12 months to take any of the courses which you can work through in your own time. 

New Skills Academy

The New Skills Academy offers a range of CPD approved courses that can be studied from home. All of their animal care courses are supported by a network of knowledgeable tutors and are designed to help you extend your knowledge and understanding of pets. You can combine your studies to cover multiple subject matters including grooming, pet psychology, pet sitting, and pet nutrition, meaning you can diversify the services your business offers.

AIM Group

The comprehensive Dog Walking and Pet Sitting for Professionals Level 3 Qualification from the AIM Group is a comprehensive course made up of two units of in-depth theory. 

 

It has been developed by iPet, a recognized organization and network. This course will help you develop a range of skills and theoretical knowledge covering the roles of dog walking and pet sitting, the necessary skills you’ll need to perform these roles, current legislation you should be aware of, basic canine behavior and psychology, as well as running and operating your own small dog business. 

Compass Education

This comprehensive course for pet sitters has been written by animal professional who have employed a range of sitters for many years for a wide range of animals. This course satisfies DEFRA licensing requirements. In this course you’ll look at house security and animal wellbeing. Part on of this course is mandatory with a selection of a minimum of two modules required to be taken from part two in order to complete the qualification. 

Animal Care College

The Animal Care College’s Pet Sitting, Dog Walking and Home Boarding course has been designed to give sitters and home boarders the skills and knowledge needed to appropriately and confidently handle these responsibilities. 

 

You’ll receive your first module upon enrolment and can complete the course your own pace, studying when and where you choose. You are recommended to complete the Animal Care College’s Health, Safety, Legal and Associated knowledge course before embarking on this training.
