Secure Qualifications
Currently in the US, there are no legal requirements for qualifications when it comes to starting a dog grooming business.
But just because it’s not a legal requirement doesn’t mean it isn’t going to be valuable to your business. In fact, it makes it even more important to take into consideration.
Pet parents want groomers they can trust. Grooming is a very important part of keeping our pets happy, healthy and well cared for. As an accredited groomer, pet parents will automatically look at you with more trust, as there’s a clear demonstration that you’re not only skilled, but also operating a safe and compliant practice.
You should consider taking a dog grooming course, preferably in person rather than online, so you can practise on a real dog in a real life situation.
While you’re training, offer friends and family free grooming sessions so that they can provide testimonials of your skills to help you promote your business when you’re ready to open.
